Physics Honors Project
Check the grade book for dates and points, etc.
You have been transported to a far distance location in a galaxy far far away, to a Wendover like planet. Fortunately you have a watch and or cell phone to keep track of time, for now. The community has decided that you are to create a system of weights and measures, based on a concepts of the SI system found on earth. That it must be repeatable without needing any "magic" objects or other artifacts.
By the 30th of September you need to bring your plan for creating such a system to the arbitrator of scientific knowledge (that would be your physics teacher) to see if you meet the requirement of reproducible from instructions only.
By 14 October you need to have your first trials for creation of your base unit competed and interim report written in the PREACH format of the scientific method.
Before Halloween is over you must have created your base unit .
(This is a summative assignment.) You need to be able to accurately describe how you have created this prototype version of your basic unit of length, and it must be within of 1% of what can be calculated to be equivalent unit on earth.
Before Thanksgiving you must have completed a full plan for creating the seven basic units of the Wendover SI system.
Before Christmas, you must have submitted your final written (summative) report.
Before the end of this semester you must have created your (summative final) basic unit of length with graduations of tenths and hundredths marked and ready for use.
